Q. How much does a Bee Hive Extraction service cost?

A. Generally speaking hive extractions are priced on a case by case basis. There are many factors that can raise or lower the cost of an extraction. The most notable governing factor is how much time a hive has been at a given location. A well established hive with honey comb and honey means that extra precautions and care are needed to deal with the hive. Furthermore an established hive may encompass a greater amount of items to be removed. In our experience, we have removed hives that contain over 400 lbs of honey and honey comb. For the best customer satisfaction, we try to keep our prices competitive and reasonable, especially in this current economy. Small hives may range from around a hundred dollars and upward depending on the size, age, and location. For questions regarding specific pricing please call our operations manager, Robert Webster at (562) 895-6404.
Q. There is a swarm of bees on my property, what do I do?

A. Well established hives may produce several swarms over the course of a year, especially in the warm Southern California weather. As such, when a swarm appears on your property it is best to wait a few hours to 1 day before contacting someone to extract the swarm. Swarming bees are searching for a new location to establish a hive, we have had many instances where our customers locate newly formed bee swarm clusters and call us only to call back in an hour to let us know that the swarm has gone. If this happens, we of course do not charge for our services but ask that you wait up to a maximum of 24 hrs before calling us so that the swarm can be confidently established and ready for removal before honey comb is created.
Q. I am a renter, how do I handle a beehive on my residence?

A. The first step for a renter to remove a dangerous hive is to contact their landlord and inform them of the hive. If you provide them with our contact information the process should go faster, however they ultimately have to provide us with the authorization to remove the bee hive.
Q. There is a hive on my property; do you remove the hive for free?

A. In the distant past, some city and county agencies would provide free bee hive removal services; unfortunately this is no longer the case. The removal service that we provide is through our private business and hence there is a cost associated with each extraction.
Q.  How do I know if the bee hive I have discovered is Africanized?

A. Unfortunately, at first glance, there is no difference between a European honey bee hive and an Africanized hive the difference lies in the behavior. For this reason, we strongly encourage residents and those who discover hives to not provoke the hive. We have responded to many cases where bee hives were considered Africanized but in fact were just more aggressive because children or teenagers threw objects or provoked the hive to take an aggressive stance. We send suspect Africanized bee samples to the appropriate authorities for laboratory testing as needed. It is imperative that bee hives not be unnecessarily disturbed, we have responded to bee calls where pets become the victim of violent bee attacks, these cases could have easily been avoided by simply ensuring that children and young adults not disturb hives.
